We didn't always have our waders with us and had to cross small streams that were too deep for boots and gators.
We saw plenty of caribou, but only one moose. The moose was only a couple hundred yards away, but it was two days before moose season opened. :-(
We floated about 60 miles and the river overall was fairly easy to navigate. There were a few spots that were a little tricky. These spots were made worse when your raft was underinflated so your seat slid of its guides, you had 8 inches of water in the boat because one of the drain holes was left open, and your oars were incorrectly preset at a 45-degree angle vice 90 degrees! ;-)
Surviving Alone in Alaska
On the last day of our trip, Zach and I met the two locals showcased in the above video. They told us that a snow storm was coming and that it was good that we were getting out early.
